Delivery bike riders in Dubai will soon need to complete a certification programme before they take to the roads.
It’s part of efforts by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to “improve daily delivery operations”, “services offered to customers in Dubai” and road safety.
Delivery companies have been instructed to ensure all their riders have obtained the “driver’s qualification certificate” after registering at one of the nine institutes accredited by RTA.
Once riders complete a comprehensive practical and theoretical training programme, which highlights the basics of defensive driving, safety requirements, and the periodic maintenance of bikes among others, they will receive their certificates.
